Teen Transition

Teen Transition is a program focused on assisting Dane County foster children with their transition to self-sustainability by providing guidance as they age out of the foster care system.  There are approximately 500-600 children in the Dane County Foster Care System and of those approximately 150 are adolescent age.

TNT Spring Exhibit Re-Cap

The Teens in Transition event on Saturday, April 5th at the American Family Dream Bank was a huge success! Thank you to the committee and everyone who helped with the event. A special shout-out to Kristin Frederickson and Katy Krantz for taking the lead!

Highlights include:

  • First Lady Tonette Walker attended as our Keynote speaker. What an honor! She is passionate about the issue and advocates on behalf of foster care youth in Wisconsin
  • Approximately 20 teens and 9 adults attended.
  • 10 vendors were available to talk to teens about career/educational goals/life skills.
  • Home kits were provided to all teens.
  • Two computers were raffled, along with additional prizes. Teens received raffle tickets for participating in the day’s activities and discussing with the group.

TNT Holiday Ornaments

Help a Teen who is aging out of the Dane County Foster care system this holiday season by picking up a TNT ornament from one of the following locations:

Each ornament contains gift items that will be used for the Teens in Transition home kits. All gifts need to be dropped off to the location where you picked up the ornament by 12/31. Send your friends and family members to either location. JLM members can email with other locations to host the Giving Tree such as your gym, dentist, orthodontist, salon, spa or work place.

Step Into Your Dreams Event, October 5, 2013

Saturday, October 5th was just the beginning for JLM’s Teens in Transition. The Committee and each participant feels exuberant about the care and commitment each person showed by giving up their Saturday then offering to help in future endeavors. Thank you, we are humbled by your efforts!

A special Thanks to Dream Bank with a shout out to Natalie Healy,Curator & Amy Jo Fisher. This day would not have went over so well at any other place.
