Junior League of Madison

The Junior League of Madison has partnered with Klinke Cleaners for five years to help area girls get All Dressed Up for their high school prom by collecting, cleaning and giving away dresses, shoes and accessories donated by the community. Dress collection for this event will take place from February 15-27 at all Madison-area Klinke Cleaners, and wraps up with a day of "shopping" on March 20th, from 8:30am-2:00pm, at Madison College, Truax Campus. Celebrity fairy-godmothers are on site to help girls select their best look, while area seamstresses provide alterations.

History:

• The event started in 2004 as a new member project.
• Dresses are collected and dry cleaned by Community Partner Klinke Cleaners.
• Over $50, 000 of dry cleaning has been generously provided by Klinke’s so far!
• The event was held the first five years at the Quality Inn in Fitchburg.

Current

• The event will be held March 20, 2010 from 8:30am - 2:00pm at Madison College. Moving to a larger venue for multiple reasons:  Address feedback from last year's attendees: more room, indoor waiting areas (protection from the elements), more dressing rooms, on a bus line, closer to those most in need, add to experience (band, movies, etc).
• Year round donation collections at all Jr League of Madison General Membership Meeting (GMM) and other JLM meetings:  dresses, jewelry, shoes, hangers, shopping bags, gift cards, etc.  Community members can contact the committee to coordinate a donation:  alldressedup@juniorleagueofmadison.org
• Dress Collection will be held once again at Klinke Cleaners February 15-27, 2010. Please bring your new or gently used dresses, shoes, and accessories to any area Klinkes during that time!  Thank you for your donations.

Question & Answer

Q.  I am interested in attending but do not live in Madison.  Am I invited to attend this event?
A.  Yes, the Junior League of Madison welcomes all high school women regardless of whether they live in the Madison area community or not.  Last year we had ladies drive from over 1 1/2 hours (one way) to attend.

Q.  Is there a charge to attend? Do I need to RSVP?
A.  No, this is a free event and no advance registration is needed.

Q.  Is All Dressed Up a need-based event?
A.  No, everyone is welcome to attend regardless of financial need.

Q.  I attended All Dressed Up last year.  Is there a way for me to donate back my dress, shoes, jewelry or purse?
A.  Yes, please contact the committee at alldressedup@juniorleagueofmadison.org or donate during the dress collection at any Madison area Klinke Cleaners (date TBD, typically mid- February).
