Our Mission

The Junior League of Madison, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and to improving the community through the effective actions and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

The Junior League of Madison is committed to improving the quality of life in our community through initiatives benefiting the health and well-being of women and children.

Community Impact and Visibility

Make a measurable difference in the Madison area through our programs. Raise community awareness of JLM through our signature programs and fundraisers.

Membership Satisfaction

Strive to provide all members with a meaningful, rewarding volunteer experience. Foster a sense of ownership among members in a welcoming, inclusive environment and provide clear membership requirements that offer flexibility with a variety of volunteering, training, and leadership opportunities.

Education

Provide members with training and educational opportunities to aid in the development of skills necessary to become effective volunteers and community leaders.

Effective Financial Management

Ensure effective management of our financial resources, to meet the needs of members and the community.

Position Statement on Children

Committed to ensuring that children have the opportunities and services essential for their physical, intellectual, emotional, mental and social growth. Advocate to see that opportunities and services are provided to foster this growth.

Signature Programs

In an effort to fight childhood obesity, JLM is currently focusing its volunteer and financial resources on initiatives that address childhood nutrition and fitness. Our community partners include:

• Girls on the Run
• The YMCA of Dane County - Dance, Dance Revolution program
• The Madison Children's Museum - "Picnic Play" Activity/Snack Booklet

Our History

Nationally, the Junior League was founded in New York City in 1901. The Madison chapter was founded in 1988.

Board of Directors

Junior League of Madison is led by a volunteer board, elected annually by our membership.

Community Advisory Board

The Community Advisory Board is comprised of non-JLM members who are called on for support, varying perspectives and assistance regarding the overall JLM program and its relevance in the community.
